Early Renewal

It really bugs me (and DON'T get the Missus started on this) when publishers send out renewal notices 6 months in advance. They're wasting paper, postage, and my time. But this has to be the granddaddy of all the Early Renewal pleas: they want me to renew my Domain Name registration a year and a half in advance!

To see who is the registrar for a domain name, who owns it, and when it expires, visit http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois

Here's the email:

My Reply:

You've got a lot of nerve trying to get me to renew my domain A YEAR AND A HALF IN ADVANCE. You obviously care more about getting my money than in providing a service because there's no service in doing something now that could just as easily be done over a year from now.

You'd only be HALF as sleazy if you had at least indicated when my registration expires so I could make an informed choice if I didn't remember when the term was up or if I didn't know how to use WHOIS.

Needless to say, I'll be looking for another registrar.
